Frequently asked questions
How accurate are the tax figures?
Verified countries are modeled in bracket-level detail from official government and tax-authority publications for the 2025 tax year — including social contributions, allowances, tax credits and surtaxes — and are checked against external calculators. Every result is labeled Verified or Estimate so you always know which you're looking at. Countries without a verified model show a clearly-labeled estimate based on average effective rates.
Why does a result differ slightly from my payslip?
Nettaker models the main, widely-applicable rules for a single filer. Personal circumstances — extra deductions, regional variations, dependants, benefits-in-kind, special regimes — can shift the real figure. Nettaker is a guidance tool, not tax advice; always confirm with a qualified professional before making decisions.
Where does the cost-of-living data come from?
Cost-of-living figures are representative major-city averages drawn from public 2025 references. The app can also show live prices from Numbeo when configured. Each cost-of-living screen states its source and date.
What's free and what's Pro?
Free, forever: full take-home tax and cost of living for your whole region — your home country plus the popular countries around it (about five or six) — comparison within that region, dual-currency conversion, the shareable result card, and Siri Shortcuts. Pro unlocks every other country worldwide, the full world ranking, comparison across any countries, the purchasing-power "equivalent salary" tool, the salary-target tool, the residency / 183-day tracker, and PDF export. Pro is available as a monthly or annual subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase.
I bought Pro but don't see it.
Open Plans and tap Restore purchases, making sure you're signed in with the Apple ID you used to buy. Purchases restore across your devices.
How do I add the home-screen widget?
Run a calculation once (so there's a figure to show), then long-press your home screen, tap +, search for Nettaker, and add the Take-Home widget.
Do you collect my data?
No. There's no account, no tracking, and no ads. See our Privacy Policy.
Which tax year does the app use?
The 2025 tax year. Where a 2026 reform is already known (for example Angola's IRT change), the app deliberately stays on the 2025 rules and notes it.
