Does Capital connect to my bank?

No — and that's deliberate. Capital is a manual tracker: you enter your accounts and balances yourself. There are no bank logins, no aggregation services, and nothing to breach. It keeps your finances private and makes you the single source of truth for your own numbers.

Where is my data stored? Is it backed up?

Everything lives on your device. Capital has no servers and never uploads your data. Your information is included in your normal encrypted iPhone/iCloud device backup, but Capital itself doesn't sync or store anything in the cloud. Deleting the app removes all of its data.

How do I add an account?

On the Dashboard, use Add account (in the "By bank" section, or the button on the empty state). You can also manage accounts from Settings ▸ Accounts. Group several accounts under one bank to see per-bank subtotals.

How are the projections calculated?

Capital carries your recurring income and spending forward from your current balances to estimate where you'll land at each horizon (3 months up to 5 years on Pro). They're clearly labelled projections — estimates based only on the recurring items you've entered, not a guarantee.

How accurate are the tax & VAT figures?

The freelancer Tax feature gives estimates to help you set money aside — not tax advice. The United Kingdom is modelled against official worked examples; other countries are best-effort estimates of the main rules for a single self-employed filer and deliberately ignore the long tail (extra deductions, credits, multiple income sources, regional variations). Always confirm with a qualified accountant before relying on a number.

What's free, and what's Capital Pro?

Free, forever: unlimited banks and accounts, the dashboard (total liquidity, by-bank breakdown, and the projection chart), the activity log, recurring items, receipt scanning, the daily reminder, light/dark mode, and the Face ID / passcode lock.

Capital Pro adds: reports & export (PDF + CSV), deep analytics (spending, cashflow & runway, net-worth history), power tracking (search & filter, category targets, longer projection horizons), and the freelancer Tax & VAT estimator. Pro is a one-time Lifetime purchase. An optional Supporter subscription (monthly or annual) is a voluntary tip that funds development and also unlocks every Pro feature while it's active.

I bought Pro but don't see it.

Open the upgrade screen and tap Restore Purchases, making sure you're signed in with the Apple ID you used to buy. Purchases restore across your devices.

How do I cancel the Supporter subscription?

Manage or cancel it any time in Settings ▸ [your name] ▸ Subscriptions on your iPhone (or via the App Store). The one-time Lifetime unlock isn't a subscription and never renews.

How do I set up the app lock?

Capital can lock with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. When enabled, it asks to authenticate automatically each time you open it — no extra tap needed.

Which currency does it use?

Capital shows your total in EUR and converts other currencies using a built-in reference exchange-rate table. Per-account balances stay in their own currency.
