Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 June 2026
Cashflow is a manual money forecaster built to respect your privacy. There is no account, no tracking, and no connection to your bank. Your data lives on your device and syncs only through your own private iCloud. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do.
The short version
- No account, no sign-in. You can use everything without giving us any personal information.
- No bank connections. Cashflow never links to your bank or card. You enter balances and activity yourself — that's the whole design.
- No tracking, no ads, no analytics. Cashflow contains no advertising or analytics SDKs.
- Your data stays yours. Your accounts, transactions, receipts, and figures are computed on your device and sync only through your own private iCloud. They are never sent to us — we have no servers and cannot see them.
Information the app handles
Your financial data. The accounts, balances, transactions, recurring items, and balance history you enter are stored on your device (using Apple's SwiftData store) and processed entirely on your device to produce your totals, forecasts, and reports. They are never transmitted to us or to any third party.
Receipts (optional). If you scan or attach a photo of a receipt, the image is stored in the app's own storage and, like the rest of your data, is only ever synced through your own private iCloud — never uploaded to us.
Tax & planning details (optional). If you use the tax, FIRE, or what-if planning features, the figures you enter — including a VAT/GST number — are stored with your other data on your device and used only to compute on-device estimates. They are never transmitted to us.
Preferences stored on your device. Your appearance setting, theme, reminder time, selected forecast horizon, and similar preferences are saved in the app's local storage (UserDefaults) so the app remembers them between launches. You can clear all of this by deleting the app.
iCloud sync
Cashflow keeps your data in sync across your own devices — iPhone, iPad and Mac — using Apple's CloudKit to store it in the private database of your personal iCloud account. This is your iCloud, not ours:
- Your data is associated with your Apple ID and is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your iCloud settings.
- We have no servers and no access to it. Cashflow has no backend; we cannot read, collect, or receive your financial data. We never see it.
- You can turn iCloud sync off for Cashflow in your iCloud settings, in which case your data stays entirely on the device.
- Deleting your data in the app removes it from your iCloud too; you can also manage Cashflow's iCloud data from Settings ▸ [your name] ▸ iCloud.
Network requests
Cashflow makes no network requests to us — we have no servers to call. The only network activity is with Apple: syncing your data into your own private iCloud (CloudKit) and processing in-app purchases (below). Currency conversion uses a reference exchange-rate table bundled with the app — no live call is made. Nothing about you is sent to any third party.
Face ID & passcode
If you enable the app lock, authentication is performed by the system (Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode) through Apple's LocalAuthentication. Your biometric data never leaves your device and is never seen by Cashflow.
Notifications
If you turn on heads-up alerts or reminders, they are scheduled as local notifications on your device. There is no push server of ours, and no message about you is sent over the network.
Purchases
Cashflow Pro (a one-time unlock) and the optional Supporter subscription are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles all payment information; Cashflow never sees your payment details. Your purchase entitlements are read from your Apple ID via StoreKit and are not stored on our servers (we have none).
Children
Cashflow is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the revised policy at this address.
